About these paintings

"In the late summer and fall of 1999, I lived in Watertown, Massachusetts where I taught my basic watercolor workshop on the patio garden. Throughout that glorious Indian Summer, I drove out to Concord a couple of times a week to paint en plein air and swim across Walden Pond. As the commuter train clacked along the far edge of the pond and communers with nature tramped along the trails, I scrambled around in search of good vistas for compositions. After long and intensive painting sessions I stripped down to my bathing suit and swam across the pond, pausing to luxuriate in the fresh and fragrant piney air. A vigorous reward after such satisfying work."
